Oh my gosh they're back again
So I have a confession to make... I went to the latest backstreet boys concert. It wasn't my first... I used to be an obsessed tween, then an obsessed teenager, and just when I thought I'd outgrown my obsession and become way too cool, I realized I still had tears in my eyes when Nick started singing "I don't know... what he does to make you cry, but I'll be there to make you smile...." and became outraged when the girls behind me got randomly selected to go backstage!
So, anyway, for the last concert my girlfriend and I made some fab t-shirts and went to watch the show from our third row seats (we won them on the radio). I thought it would be great like all of the concerts before, but sitting that close made me realize how OLD these guys are now... seeing all of their wrinkles and sweat up close put a different spin on things. However, what really upset me was that I was SO close but Nick REFUSED to make eye contact with me... how rude! Brian and AJ both smiled at me... so what the heck!
We've decided that we won't be attending the next gig with the New Kids... I was never a fan of theirs and my disappointment in the BSB's last concert is still too fresh... though if I were to win tickets on the radio again... I would probably drop everything, make a fresh new shirt, and boogie on down!!
Do you have any childhood obsessions that carried over into your adult years? I find it hard to believe that I feel so "over" things but then all of a sudden that intense rush of emotions comes over you and you can't help but be caught up in the moment... My other childhood/teenage obsessions included: My so called life (Jared Leto especially!), Mariah Carey (still like to belt it out in the privacy of my own car), Dawson's Creek, Ace of Base, 90210 the original (and yes I watch the new one too....) and of course Party of Five!

lmao, this is sooo cool. i am not going to deny it, i love bsb! and hells yes i am a major mariah carey fan, hehe. but i also love other artists like morriesy, band of horses, the smiths, etc. i have an electric collection of music :)

ReplyDeleteI'm jealous that you got to see them. I've been both times they came to St. John's. Apparently NKOTB is too good to come all the way to the east coast. I liked BSB more anyways :P
